A reason for the season

season for a reason

Seasons are great, they come at different times of the year, they are all unique in their own ways and they exist to manifest different purposes.  As a young child when asked what my favourite season was  I would straight away blurt out sun meaning that my favourite season was  summer. If you ask me the same question right now it would take me a while to answer the exact same question, this is because I have grown to learn that beauty can be found in every season. No matter how cold winter may seem or how messy your neighbourhood may become due to the autumn season, the truth is that beauty can be found in both winter, autumn as well as in spring and summer.

Being a self-proclaimed lover of snow (one of the beautiful things that winter offers) there’s no denying that the coldness of  the winter season makes me wish I could just skip winter  all together and jump to autumn, spring or summer instead.

Just like I wish I could  skip  or rush winter because of how cold it can become, as children of God we can try to speed up the season of life that we are currently in without even recognising that we are doing it.

You may try to rush or skip your current season due to the discomfort of the season, you could be experiencing endless comparison against your peers who are in a different season from you, or maybe you are  being pressurised by things or those around you  to get into a different season.

When you try to rush, skip or avoid a season that God has placed you in, you will miss out on the goodness of that particular season and on all that God has prepared for you to achieve in that season. Firstly because you are too busy trying to avoid, skip or rush it therefore you won’t  understand the purpose of the season and secondly you need to spend a particular amount of time in a season for the season to serve it’s purpose in your life.

As I mentioned above seasons come at different times, they are unique and they exist for a different purpose. Precious one, don’t compare your current season to the season that your friend,  your next door neighbour or your boss is currently in. Everyone’s story is unique so your season may be different to that  of your friend, neighbour or boss. instead focus on the season that God has currently placed you in.  God himself is your creator and only He knows why He has placed you in that season, so choose to trust Him instead of stressing yourself out by comparing your season to other people’s seasons.

“O Lord , You have searched me and known me, You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.  You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways” – Psalm 139:1-3

No matter how hard a season may seem it always has some kind of beauty to it, so allow God to show you the beauty of the season that you are in and why He has place you in it. You can do this by consistently seeking God, spending time in His presence, consistently feasting on His word. Instead of comparing yourself  focus on SEEKING, SPENDING AND FEASTING ON GOD that way you will get a clear picture of the season you are in and the purpose it can serve in your life.

You may currently be in your single season and try  to rush it  by constantly  trying to find a man to fill your singleness, maybe you  are  trying to get a man  to notice you, maybe you constantly have a feeling of emptiness or purposelessness while you are single or maybe you constantly want to be in a relationship even though you know that it’s not the right time for you.

If you have a feeling of emptiness or purposelessness while you are single, you need to understand that being in a relationship will not take your emptiness away (it may mask it for a little while but it won’t take it away completely) or make you feel purposeful all of a sudden. God can fill a void in your heart that no man can fill, He can fill your emptiness and show you your purpose not only when you are single but also in the next season after that.

If you are trying to rush through your single season, it will prevent you from embracing all that  the single season has to offer. Focus on the season that God has currently placed you in so you don’t miss out on the purpose of that season in your life. If you are too busy envying other people who are in the season that you aspire to be in or if you are trying to skip or rush the season, you will  potentially miss out on all that the season has to offer.

Just because you haven’t met that special someone yet or you haven’t reached the season of marriage doesn’t make the season of singleness purposeless or pointless, or that  you can’t be fully happy . There’s nothing wrong with waiting, but we should wait while actively pursuing God and living out the single season in all it’s fullness. Don’t remain static sister just because you are waiting for your Adam to arrive ( vice versa for all my brothers out there), instead stay active.  Wait actively by using your singleness, gifts and talents to serve and devote yourself entirely to Christ.

If you have a desire of marriage within you, God is only able to equip you for marriage if you are consistently and actively pursuing and seeking Him while remaining  obedient to the season of singleness that He has placed you in.

Yes your current season may seem unbearable at times, yes you may experience discomfort and yes it may be hard seeing other people all happy and successful in the season that you aspire  to be in. Although it’s easier said than done, you should be happy for all those around you who are succeeding in the season that you aspire to be in and although you  haven’t reached that season yet. Let the success of those in the season that you aspire be in give you the strength to endure the current season that God has placed you in and motivate you not to give up.

If you bear the season that you are in, embrace it and remain faithful to God, then God will notice this and He will eventually reveal to you the beauty of the season that He has placed you in. Not only that , but He will also show you the  reasons of  why He has placed you in that season.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” – Isaiah 55:11

So instead of wishing you were in a different season why not wake up each day thanking God for the season that He has placed you in currently, knowing that it’s for a purpose. You are in your current season for a purpose, embrace it and live it to the fullest. Maybe this is the only time that you will ever experience the season that God has placed you in, so embrace it, ask God to show you the purpose of the season, get as much experience as you can from it to prepare you for the next season that God has prepared for you.  Everything that God does in our lives is for a purpose.

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1

Thank you so much for reading this, I’m absolutely grateful that you gave up your time just to read this. Speak to you soon.
