BEING THE LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD

Do you know that you are a light?.

No not a lamp, not a light bulb… and definitely not a lantern. You are a spiritual light.

The fact that Jesus Christ abides in you makes you the light of the world. You are precious and set apart because of this amazing light inside of you. This world needs you. You are a big deal.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”  1 Peter 2:9

Without you there’s no hope for this world, It will stay dim and the darkness will start to consume even the children of God. It’s bad enough that the majority of this world is under the influence of satan…but there is still hope because you are reading this right now.

Jesus is the ultimate light, He alone can make someone a light and therefore you can’t be the light of the world if Jesus doesn’t abide in you. When we choose to follow Jesus Christ by acknowledging Him as our Lord and Saviour, He comes into our lives and He Himself becomes the light in us which also makes us a light.

How can you see in the darkness if you don’t have a light?, so you see we need an ultimate light to abide in us if we are going to make a change in this world.

So what’s a Light?.

– It is the natural source agent that stimulates sight

– It makes things visible

– It is an area of something that is brighter or paler than it’s surroundings

It is the source of illumination

– It provieds information and clarification

A light must be ignited

With all these amazing things a light can do or be, it’s of no good use if it doesn’t ignite. It’s useless and it’s not different from the dark. It’s true that a single spark can start a prairie fire, but how do you expect a fire to even start in the first place without even an ounce of a spark?.

As children of the most High King we need to ignite our light so that it can shine and be seen.

We can’t hide the fire that Jesus has set in us.

We are a city on a hill and this city can not be hidden, no way.

We are a lamp and this lamp can not be put under a basket, never.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:15

If we don’t let our light shine before others how can they see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven?.

How can we differ from this world if we are walking in total darkness by not igniting our light?.

Radiating Jesus through us is so  important because it can lead someone to salvation, saving them from eternal Hell. Everyone has eternal life when they die…but the only difference is where that eternal life is spent; eternal life in Heaven or eternal life in Hell.

God has set before us life and death, we need to not only choose life for ourselves but we need to love other  people enough to not want them to spend their eternity in Hell. Let’s do what ever it takes to lead people to Jesus Christ because we are His hands and feet, we are here to make a difference not to watch people perish.

We are Christ’s ambassadors, the natural source agent that can stimulate the world and make things which are hidden visible. Our lives must imitate the image of Jesus Christ so that we can set a good example for who He is. Many people have given Jesus a bad name simply because they call themselves a “christian”, but they lead an opposite life to that of a christian and if you take a good look at their lives they walk in total darkness and live in a way that doesn’t glorify God whatsoever.

If you are going to call yourself a christian then please live like it. Let’s give Jesus an Amazing name  not to simply make Him appear great to the rest of the world but because that’s truly who He is. He is Great. The Greatest man that’s ever lived.

“Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” 1 John 2:6

I have a light bulb in my bedroom just near my door and every night when I’m entering my room I switch the light bulb on, but there was this one night that I decided not to switch the light bulb on ( I don’t know what I was thinking at the time) and I tripped and fell flat on my face in the dark, it hurt but I learned something. If I had switched my light on I probably would have seen that a shoe was in front of me picked it up and this would have prevented me from falling in first place.

Nowadays I make sure I switch my light bulb on when I enter my room at night, why? so I can see where I’m going lest I  trip or fall. Most of all I know that my light bulb has my back and that it will light my path which will prevent me from falling and causing serious injury.

Being in the dark makes you more prone to danger because you have no light to guide you and therefore you become more likely to trip or fall.

A light must be switched on in order to shine in the dark so you must also ignite in order for the world to see that you are a child of God. There is no point having Jesus in you if you are not putting Him on display for all the world to see, so they can witness how marvellous and wonderful He is. There’s no difference between those who have the light but are walking in the dark and not igniting their light and between those who don’t have the light in the first place and walking in total darkness.

We can only differ and be called children of the most High King only if we are different from this world and by igniting our light. We can’t blend in with the rest of the  world, we can’t blend in the dark because this will prevent us from living the life that God has prepared for us and from accomplishing His will.

It’s time that you ignite your light

It’s time that we let our light shine so that Jesus may shine through us.

We are the only hope for people in the world to get to know Jesus.

Ask yourself a question, as an ambassador of Christ are you truly truly igniting your light for your family, friends, co-workers, neighbours and for the rest of the world to see it?  if not then this is the time to start.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us…”

2 Corinthians 5:20

I hope you enjoyed reading this… please feel free to share.
